Lundr Farm's Poultry
At Lundr Farm we raise traditional breeds of poultry for dual purpose, milk and meat production. We produce white,
brown and rainbow colored chicken eggs, white and green duck eggs and large goose eggs.

Although we raise our own chickens for consumption, we also will raise out Cornish Cross chicks we purchase for meat
production. All chickens on our farm are given pastures to scratch on in the summer and large covered corrals in the
winter. This results in a leaner, firmer meat as our birds actually move around and use their muscles. They do not have
heavy amounts of breast meat as they flap their wings and even roost in trees or on high perches in the summer, but
they do have beautifully developed thighs and a more flavorful, richer meat texture and taste.

We also raise turkey poults and have our own heritage stock. All are free ranged, pasture fed and supplemented with
organic feed.  Although we do have broad breasted bronze and white turkey available for purchase during the holidays
(generally reserve in advance). Our own stock is based in heritage breeds, especially Black Spanish to provide a firmer,
richer meat suitable for a traditional feast.

We keep Chinese geese to weed our garden and to supply us with eggs and guineas to take care of garden pests. In
2010 we are adding imported French Toulouse geese and Embeden geese for holiday production and also to provide
ethically obtained fatty goose liver (foie gras alternative). We also have ducks for meat, fatty liver and egg production.
We have Indian Runner ducks for eggs. This breed has been in existence for at least 2,000 years and produces for eggs
a year than the finest hen of any chicken breed. The eggs are rich and ideal for baking tasks as they have a higher
protein content than chicken eggs. Our ducks have a pond we built for them and the babies have plastic children's pools
to play in. All are free range and organically fed.
