Lara's Marin County Restaurant Guide

The Parkside Cafe' at Stinson Beach:  They have outside picnic tables
on the patio.  The Applewood smoked bacon was delicious, but the vet
said I should not have it anymore.  What does she know? Never trust a
person with a rectal thermometer and injection needles.

Anchorage 5 in Sausalito's Marinship area:  Very nice outside tables.
CWK likes the Roma Omlette and MKK likes eggs basted with bacon.  I
like whatever treats they give me, when I am good, of course.

Poggio in Sausalito at the Casa Madrona:  This is an upscale restaurant
that has outside tables with real linen table cloths.  There are flower
boxes on the sidewalk to separate us from the sidewalk and tourists.
One woman brings her Standard Poodles there, but we have our own table.
(I think Poodles have funny haircuts, but they are OK at the dog park
if they run with me.)  I only get training treats when I am good at
Poggio.  It is Italian food and I think it has onions and garlic.

Winship's in Sausaltio:  They have outside tables and good food too.
We watched a parade there one time.  I was in a parade in Sausalito too,
but not the one we watched at Winship's.

Starbuck's on Princess Street in Sausalito:  Sometimes on a walk we
stop so CWK and MKK can have a coffee and a snickerdoodle.  I get trainer
treats there because sugar on people cookies is apparently bad for my
teeth.  At least this is what I am told when I try to beg people
cookies.

The Left Bank in Larkspur:  This is a really nice French Restaurant
that has outside tables on a loggia.  My first visit here was with Joey
Davis when CWK and MKK went to Seattle and I stayed at Camp Joey with
Joey and her cat named Kitten.  Joey loves me and Kitten does not run so I
have to be good with her. No chase.  They have terrific Sunday brunch
and I get a water bowl that I am not supposed to spill, but I do spill
anyhow.  The staff there admires me, and sometimes people ask what kind
of dog I am, so CWK gives them the short history of the Borzoi story...

The Mill Valley Book Depot Cafe':  This in a quaint indoor/outdoor
cafe" in the old Mill Valley RR Station.  We stop for coffee and biscotti
when we walk in Mill Valley.  I have to stay outside the fence, but we
always get a table against the fence.  I get liver biscotti treats that
CWK keeps in a bag in his pocket.  Mill Valley is dog-friendly and lots
of places give dog biscuit treats.  There is a nice elderly lady that
we see often who gives me a treat if CWK says it is OK.

Mom and Dad took me on a drive to the Wine Country.  We stopped at a
restaurant that has an outside deck.  It is in Yountville and named
Pacific Blues.  Dad and Mom asked if they were dog friendly, and they
allowed me to have a nice shady spot next to the water fountain on the deck.
I got treats from Mom's treat pouch.  There were lots of blackbirds to
watch.  I was good though and did not lunge at any of them.  By being
good, then I was able to have some tidbits of Mom's sandwich and Dad
gave me some too.  It was nice at Pacific Blues.  It was sunny.  Mom and
Dad are growing tired of the rainy season, and I am too.  It is much
nicer to walk outside when it is sunny.  After lunch we drove to
Calistoga.  We had a nice walk there.  Mom and Dad had ice cream cones.  I had
some more dog treats from the treat pouch.
I can not tell you how proud I am of Lara and the
Krauses. To me, training to be a therapy dog is
as wonderful as winning a dozen specialties. Lara
is a champion in my heart has become an
ambassador to the breed in every sense of the
word. She has been in the local newspaper's
articles, has met and taught a staggering number
of people on the street and never fails to be a
wonderful representative of the breed. She
lunches in downtown restaurants and meets
people by the dozens. The Krauses are wonderful
borzoi parents. I am so glad that they have
brought Lara into their home.
